THE WORLD'S ENTERTAINERS. ' The pleasure-loving portion of the community turned out in forces again lost evening to witness the diverting performance oi the World's Entertainers. (Every seat in the Theatre Royal was occupied, and a large number of people were glad to obtain. £tancling-r*oom. Miss Francis G wynne rendered two capitally-illustrated fcougs, her second contribution, "Tommy," receiving warm applause. A picture of His Majesty the J^ing was thrown on 'he screen at the conclusion of this number, and the audience rose en masse and sang the National Anthem, concluding with three hearty cheers. Mr. Charles Sweet, "The Musical Burglar,' kept the house convulsed with laughter during hia term on the stage. Miss Josephine Qassman, with the help of her two ebonyskinned proteges, greatly amused the audience. The novel acrobatic work of Nfesars. Kaliy and Ashby was received with well-won applause. A new programme will be put forward to-night, and on Saturday afternoon another matinee performance will be given. THE CINQUEVALLI SEASON. Mr. Harry Kickards's No. 1 company of vnudeville stars, consisting of Paul OinOjUovalli, the famous juggler, Madame Lydia Yeamans-Titus, Colby and Way, .\fiss 'Nita Leeto, Mr. James Opie, the Diamond Duo, Professor Charles Wrigley, and Walker and May, will make their nr*t appearance this evening at (he Opera House. The company arrived this morning irom Masterton. Early doors will open at 7 o'clock, the performance commencing at 8 o'clock sharp and terminating at 10.36. A matinee will be given on Saturday afternoon, at which children will bo admitted at halfprice. The Anderson Dramatic Company brought its Wellington season to a close in the Opera House last night with "The Ladder of Life." An enjoyable meeting of the Loyal Petone Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held last night, when a large number of the members of the Britannia, Antipodean, Newtown, «nd Rose of the Valley Lodges, together with the District Officers, paid a fraternal visit. A programme of songs, etc., was gone through, and refreshments were provided by the entertaining lodge. During the evening » resolution was passed declaring that the lodge and Order rejoiced that peace hnd been declared and that the war was ended, and hoped that the brethren on both sirfes would in future work in amity for the welfare of the people and order in South Africa. This was carried by acclamation, and the National Anthem was sung. A hope was expressed that visits of the kind would be numerous during the coming winter. Our readers aro reminded of the lecture ,4 "Polynesian Folk-loro" to be delivered *.y Mr. E. Tregear, F.R.G.S., this evening in the Wesleyan Lecture Hall, Tara-naki-street, in connection with the Wesleyan Literary and Debating Society. Admission is free, and the publio are -.ordially invited to be present.
