Professor Wood, of Sydney University, President of tho New South Wales AntiWar League, has contributed an article to the Manchester Guardian, in which he states that a very greaT minority of tho people in Australia are opposed to the war, chiefly consisting of Irish residents, the Labour Party, shearers, and station roustabouts. The -writer addß : -—"Racial unity and tho profundity of ignorance are the real causes of the war. The chief reason for Australia's support is that the colonies consider thoir help is a. good investment and a food advertisement. Few volunteers were inspired by self-sacrifice ; most .by sheer love of adventure and a desire to escape the monotony of bush" life." SYDNEY, 23rd April. Only two municipal councils have agreed to receive the Anti-War League's petition. The Randwick Council's reply to tho Anti-War League's petition was the adoption of a resolution that the issuers of the petition should be arraigned on a charge of treason and sedition.
