Another good washing is expected this week from tho Leviathan, and preferential scrip was in gooa demand yesterday up to Bs. Nelson Creeks also burdened again. Red Jacks advanced to 14s 6d, while Pactolus fell bock to 68s 6d. JNorth Beach were weakly held at 13» 6d. Kelson Creek has again started on real good wash. Ahaura is having a steady run, but expects only moderate returns. Great complaints are made about apparent carelessness in protecting the machinery of Waterson'a Consols, which is strewed about on the river beach, and partially covered with sand and graVel. There w . 4 no wash-up of the Kohinoor dredge in consequence of the recent accident. The dredge started work again yesterday morning. ffokitika iuvur dredge experienced heavy' work during the past week, hence the poor return. Tho dredge is working in a nest of timber at present. It appears that when the river is in ilood the timber then .coming down would come into the eddy and remain there. This has now to bo dealt with by $lie dredge. It will take fully another week before it can get clear. The Premier dredge's return for last week was 420z for 115 hours. This is encouraging to shareholders. The dredge is working on a face about 250 ft in width by 20 to 30ft in depth, and putting through a lot of wash. Woodstock . dredge is completing the opening of a paddock, and will start on wash proper in a week or so. For thei purpose of reaching the proper position quickly, the mats are to be laid on tables. The erection of the Prince of Wales machinery is being pushed on vigorously. Only wood fuel will be used. Eleven hands are at work erecting the' machinery of the CqmmissionW's Fla^ dredgp. The "work is well up ;to-time. .' The Okarito Five-mile Company, which purchased the Wakamarina dredge, has sent a crew to thoroughly prospect the ground. The surface prospecting was most oncouraging. Air. Gibbons, the purchaser of the Totara dredge, is going on vigorously repairing the dredgo, which will soon be rai«ed, and the machinery at, once pjat in order. The Ruby Creek dredge will make a fresh start shortly. The Mount dOr dredge was closed down for want of water for five weeks. Rouklands Beach reports a return of 250z. The Alpine Extended clean-up yielded 103oz retorted gold from 109 tons.
