ARMY ESTIMATES. PROPOSALS FOR INCREASED PAY CARRIED.
[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received March 10, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, 9th March. The House of Commons in Committee of Supply passed by large majorities the estimates providing for 220,000 men in the ordinary army, and 200,000 men on war service ; also for increased pay. Mr. Brodrick, Secretary for War, announced that an additional gratuity would be given to those who had completed their time and who elected to serve again, besides the £5 already given, except for those engaged at higher rates of pay for a year, of 5s a month after eighteen months' completed additional service at the end of 1901 or^subsequent-
