FEDERATED SEAMEN'S UNION. j Concluding his address before the Con- < ciliation Board yesterday, Mr. Kirby, j representative of the Union Steamship t Company, said that if the demands of ( the union were granted, the effect will ■ be to increase the Union Company's ex- , penditure on the nine ships that would < be concerned by about £2000 per an- , num. Mr. A. H. Turnbull (W. and G. Turnbull and Co.) put in a number o&exhibits showing the hours, wages and conditions of labour on the s.s. Kennedy,, by way of a set-off against statements made by Mr. Jones relative to that vessel. He made no address, beyond stating that his views were in accord with those of the other employer* who had spoken. Mr. Jones then replied on the union's behalf, and at the conclusion of his address the Board adjourned the dispute till the* 10th inst., to give an opportunity to the outside parties cited to appear.
