AUCKLAND RACING NOTES. {BT TXLEOBAFH— FBESS ASSOCIATION., AUCKLAND, 26th November. The declaration of weights for the leading events at the A.R.C. Summer Meeting has livened up matters in the Sooafl, betting mjarket. None.tte was strongly backed for the Auckland Cup, about £800 being accepted at 6 and 7 to 1. Blue Jacket has been supported at 100 to 12. For the double, the Cup and the Railway Handicap, Nonette and Royal Artillery, were supported to wiu £500 at 100 to 4, <and Blue Jacket and Caanongate were backed for a like amount for the Cup and Steeplechase today at 100 to 5. The favourites Nonette and Bluo Jacket may be quoted equal •favourites for the Cup at 100 to 20. Coronet is quoted at 8 to 1, Tortulla 10 to 1, and San Remo 12 to 1. Val Rosa has been, scratched for the Auckland Cup and the Railway Handi- ' cap, and Palaver and Cure' for all engagements at the A.R.O. Summer Meeting. Messrs. L. D. and N. A. Nathan, owners of Sylvia Park, have purchased in England the St. Simon sire San Francisco, owu brother to St. Frusquin (winner of the Sandon Eclipse Stakes and the Two Thousand Guineas in 1896). San Francisco is to be shipped to Auckland at an early, date. The stallion Birkenhead, five years old, by Orme — Tragedy, has been purchased in England by th« Hon. J. D. Ormond, of Hawkes Bay. Orme is sire of the celebrated Flying Fox, who was sold f at the highest price ever given for a racehorse, while Tragedy has already produced a St. Leger winner in Wildfowler.
