Dr. Pomare, Native Health Officer, has returned to town after a trip to .the native settlements along the Wanganui River, which lasted several weeks. He went up the river as far as Karioi, some 30 odd miles above Pipiriki, and came down by easy stages, stopping at the various villages, where he gay& a series of illustrated lectures, and had many earnest "talks" with the natives on the subject of cleanliness and healthy homes. He found most of the villages fairly' cleanly, but suspects irom the newly-polished character of some of them that the spry aboriginal had been advised beforehand of his coming.
