[BT TEtEGBAPH — OWN OOBBKSFONDENT.'I DUNEDIN, This Day. Premier and Sir J. G. Ward aro expected here for the Otago Show on Friday, and the races on Saturday. The following I take from to-night's Star: — "Rumours are current respecting the alleged retirement from the Union Steam Ship Company's service of one of its best-known commanders. It is said that a final decision will not be arrived at until the return of Mr. J. Mills, managing director, from England." This is understood to have reference to Captain Richardson, formerly of the Waikare. A cadet corps is to be formed in tho Roslyn district Upwards of eighty lad* have expressed their willingness to join. [BT TELEGRAPH — PHEBB ABBOOIATION.I DUNEDIN, 25th November. Since the Art Society's exhibition has been open thirty pictures have been sold, the total realised being £154. An explosion of gas occurred in the Evening Star office to-night. The explosion was probably caused by an accumulation of gas between the ceiling of the book-binding and box factory departments.
