The tariff debate will be resumed towards the end of next week. (Received November 9, 9.43 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Federal Attorney-General (Hon. Alfred Deakin) has been enquiring into the status of the Commonwealth with regard to the agreements made between the various States and the Eastern Extension Cable Company. He*waa perfectly astonished to find that none of the agreements are terminable except with the consent of both parties, therefore t the Government and the company have bound themselves for all eternity. There is a proviso for lowering rates, but all other matters can only be determined by mutual consent.
