■ ♦ MACLAREN'S TEAM AT ADELAIDE. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received November 5, 9.55 a.m.) ADELAIDE, This Day. Maclaren's Cricket Team received a hearty welcome on its arrival here. Mr. Maclaren, replying to the toast of his health, said the. action of Yorkshire in refusing to allow the chief bowlers of the county to join the team had resulted in good, as its antagonism had induced others to offer their services. The team was a, popular one at Home. It was strong in batting, and not so weak in bowling as some people liked to make out. The senior championship fixtures that were left unfinished on Saturday, were concluded on the Basin Reserve last evening. Old Boys, with 5 wickets down when they began, closed their innings for '93 ; Midland thus winning by 375 runs. In the Wellington-Phoenix match Wellington concluded its innings for 251 — . Richardson, not out, l_o. Phoenix had now an innings to go and only 29 to make. This was done with ihe loss of three wickets. Hales bowled well, but Connell was not so successful. Blocklock was run out for 6, and Midlarie was bowled first ball by Hales. Benbow was caught for 6, and Clark and Waters with 11 and 6 (not out) respectively, brought the score to the necessary total. Phoenix thus won by 7 wickets and 2 runs. The bowling records were: -^-Phoenix, in Wellington's second innings ; — Hickey, 24 overs, 7 maidens, 51 runs, 2 wickets ; Miller, 21 overs, 3 maidens, 64 runs, 1 wicket; Pope, 19 overs, 4 maidens, 46 runs, 0 wickets ; Clarke, 14 overs, 4 maidens, 25 runs, 2 wickets ; Benbow, 25 overs, 9 maidens, 38 runs, ,3 wickets ; Waters, 16 overs, 6 maidens, 26 runs, 2 wickets. Midland in Old Boys second innings: — Upham, 18 overs, 6 maidens, 23 runs, 2 wickets; Stevenson, 5 overs, 4 maidens, 3 runs, 0 wickets ; Holdsworth, 19 overs, 9 maidens, 22 runs, 3 wickets j Tucker, 13£ overs, 2 maidens, 34 runs, 4 wickets. At a, meeting of the committee of the Cricket Association held last evening, it was reported that a- junior "rep." match had been arranged between teams from the Wellington and Hutt Valley Associations. The latter body -has accepted reciprocity with the main body. Consideration of the protest entered by the Midland Club against the recent decision of the Third-class Committee in the unplayed Midland-Phoenix match was postponed. The following junior fixtures are announced: — 16th and 23rd November—Albion v. Rover A, Athletic Park ; Vivian v. Rover B, Kilbirnie. '30th November and 7th December — Gasworks v. Rovers B, Park; Albion v. Vivian, Kilbirnie. 14th and 21st December — Rover A v. Vivian, Park ; Gasworks v. Albions, Kil-birnie/--4th and 11th January— Rover B v, Albions, Park ; Rover Ay.
