SECOND DITION

EIGHT-HOUR DAY IN SYDNEY. O GREAT TRADE PROCESSION. tt'RESS ASSOCIATION. 1 (Received October 7, 1.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. There is fine ■weather to-day for the 'eight hour demonstration. The revival of interest in trades-union-ism during the past couple of years is evidenced by the increased number and augmented membership of the societies participating in the proceedings. Thirtyfour societies, including a number of newones, inarched in procession through the streets to the Agricultural Grounds, where sports are being held. The procession took an hour to pass a given point. There was a fine display of banners and allegorical designs, some of them being most effective. Great crowds lined the route.
