THORNDON BOWLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Thornton Club, held at the Club Hotel last night, was largely attended, Mr. J. B. Heywood was voted to the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet, the chief details of which have already been published, were adopted. The following were elected directors for the ensuing year: — Hon. Dr. Grace, Messrs. T. Rose, A. Macintosh, J. Barry, J. S. Jameson (reelected), F. W. Flanagan, and H. J. H. Eliott. Messrs. F. W. Flanagan and J. Stephens were re-elected Hon. Treasurer and Hon. Auditor respectively. The following wore elected a Match Committee for the season : — Messrs. F.-W. Flanagan, J. C. M'Kerrow, D. Ross, T. Rose, and G. Wright, Messrs. T. Rose, J. Barry, and E. W. Seaton were re-elected the Green Committee. Mr. J. D. Sievwright was elected as the club's representative on the Council of the Northern Bowling Association. Messrs. W. M. Bannatyne and Cp. wrote offering, on behalf of Messrs. J. Dewar and Sons (Ltd.), -of Perth, Scotland, a pair of bowls for competition among members. The offer was accepted with thanks. Votes *of thanks were passed to the Hon. Auditor, Hon. Treasurer, and directors for their services during the past year. It was decided that the green should be opened for the season on Wednesday, the 9th inst. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.

The Petone Bowling Club will open its season next Saturday afternoon. The green is in capital condition, and a number of visitors from other clubs are expected to be present.
