At the inquest on the body of Major Brown, who was killed on the Devonstreet railway crossing on Monday, the jury a verdict of Accidental 'Death, no blame being attachable to l^any one. A rider was added to 'the effect 'that in view of the dangerous position of tfee crossing, the Railway Department be urged to divert the route. Porter Howfett, who was on duty at the crossing, ■ was commended for his efforts to save decejasea. AUCKLAND, Ttys Day. PoterjSinclair, aged .60, has been killed '•by a fa^ of earth at the Poro-o-tarao railway works. At the inquest on the body of Mr. Arthur Dempsey, licensee of the Archill Hotel, a verdict of suicide while mentally unsound was returned. WAIROA, This Day. Mr. Richard Thomas M'Roberts, an old settler over 70 years of age, died suddenly yesterday at his • residenco at Huramua. He has been here over 40 'years, and was tutor of the late Mr. 'Joseph Carroll's family.
