The Duke and Duchess reoeived a magnificent send-off from Dunedin to-day. Thousands of people congregated in the vicinity of the railway station and along the line, cheering heartily aa the Royal train left the city. It was again glorious weather, and the last journey of their Royal Highnesses in New Zealand was made under absolutely perfect conditions. The beautiful scenery at different points along the line of route was much admired. At the various stopping-places crowds assembled and cheered the Duke aijd Duchess. At Seacliff some Maoris presented Lady Mary Lygon -with a fine mat. The Duke and Duchess had luncheon at Palmerston in the Royal carriage. .In addition to His Excellency the, Governor, the Countess of Ranfurly, and His Serene Highness Prince Alexander of Teck, Sir Joseph Ward had the honour of being invited to luncheon. At Timaru tea was served in the Royal carriage. At Ashburton, where the train stopped for a few minutes, a large crowd had congregated, notwithstanding the bitter cold, and cheered heartily. , Advantage was taken of the stoppage to present to His Royal' Highness a very valuable collection, ■of New Zealand stamps, old and new,' in a beautifully-bound album. The presentation was made by the PostmasterGeneral, Sir Joseph Ward. No sooner had the train started than it came to a standstill again, owing to the guard meeting with a slight accident. Both, the Duke and Duchess came out on to the carriage .platform and made enquiries as to the nature of the accident, but before they could ascertain the cause of the delay the train had started again. The train made no stop at Christchurch, merely slowing down through the station. During the course of the day the various members of the staff were presented by the Hon. Mr. Carroll ■with piupius — the flax mats of the Maoris. ROYAL PRESENTS. Their Royal Highnesses, during, their sojourn in New Zealand, have made many handsome presents ito those who in various ways have been connected with the arrangements for the Royal tour.. Lord Ranfurly had the honour of receiving a very handsome silver bowl, and the Countess of Ranfurly was presented with a diamond bracelet. Lady Constance and Lady Eileen Knox received brooches. To Captain Alexander Their Royal Highnesses gave a very handsome gold cigarette case. The Hon. Mr. Hill-Trevor received a silver cigarette case, the Hon. Mr. Butler a gold pencil; Captain Osborne a gold pin ; and - Captain Boscawen a beautiful 'pin in onaxnei and gold. Seven of the prinoipal servants at Government House also received presents. Mr. Donne's present was a pair of sleevelinks with diamonds, Police-Commis-sioner Tunbridge and Mr. Holmes each received a silver cigarette case. Mr. Seddon, as already stated, received a silver inkstand, and Sir Joseph Ward was presented with a large silver cigarette- bos. Mr. Carroll also received a souvenir pf the Royal visit Mr. C. Robinson, who was Government steward oh the Royal train and at the veterans' luncheons, received a pin with a white rose in enamel.
