THE BAND OF THE OPHIR.

TO THIS EDITOR. Sir — I gathered from an issue of yours a week or*so ago that the band of the Chatham Division R.M.3UI. is on board the Ophir. I have made enquiries of some of- our men who went to Australia, but they do not know whether this band will be in evidence here or not at the coming celebration. I happen to know that the members of this band are all "double-handed" men — i.e., they are as good in orchestral and string music as they ore in the military bond; therefore I think it the Reception Committee could prevail on the " powers that be " to allow them to give us a specimen of their quality it would be a treat to the general public and a revelation to some of our colonial bands. — I am, etc., A MINOR. Mitchelltown, sth June, 1901.
