The Bioscope and concert company^ present occupying the Opera House, has obtained a strotig hold upon public' iavour, and last night the large building was well-iilled. Tho machine which rtels the liims off is a very superior one, and does "not get upon the nerves of an audience by rattling in the way that previoua members oi the ' bioscope family have done. In addition the majority of* the pictures arc entirely new and moreW than ordinarily clear. To-morrow after-" noon a matinee will be given for the' benefit of the laddies. The boom at the Theatre Royal continues, and standing .room has had to^ fatisiy li'i-^e numbers of visitors throughout the week. Mr. Frank Yorke and the others are giving one of the best programmes winch has yet been seen on. the Royal stage. Tiiat, however, will not prevent a change taking place tomorrow evening. Waters)' occupied the chair. The syllabus for the current year was provisionally drawn up, after which tho Chairman read an instructive paper on " QUibs and their Objects." for which he received a vote of thank?. The sale of wouk organised by ladies of St. Paul's parish, was concluded in the Sydney-meet Hall last evening, when am. entertuining programme was presented under ivirs. Quick's supervision. Mrs. GiHan and Me Twiss sang a duet) jkr. Huntor-Brown played banjo selections, accompanied on the piano by Mr. Kemp, Miss Sprott gave a pianoforte solo, Mr. Twiss sang twice, anil Messrs. Beere and Izard presented a Punch and Judy show. Mrs. Barrington Waters gave a concert at Karori last evening. It waa successful in every v/ay. Mrs. Waters's own artistic playing was tho feature of the evening, but valuable assistance was given by the Mrc&es Putnam, both vocally and instrument-ally, and by Messrs. J. F. Cavr, S. J. Dyer, and F. V. Waters as vocalists. Master Eric Waters), a pupil also appeared as a performer in a pianofori/s duet, and the Rev. Mr. Hansell gave v reading.
