Blackmore, Clerk of the South Australian Legislative Council, has been appointed Clerk of the Federal Sen-, ate, and Mr. G. H. Jenkins, Clerk of the Victorian Legislative Council, has received temporary appointment as Clerk of the House. (Received April 4, 9.53 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Owing, to tho flooded state of the country on the south-western frontier, it is feared that seven representatives of Queensland, including Mr. J. G. Drake, will be unable to take their seats at the opening' of the Federal Parliament. It will be impossible to get the returns in time for tne day fixed for the return df the writs. The Wellington. Garrison Band has been chosen to accompany the Commonwealth Contingent to Melbourne. There were several applicants for the position.
