SEIZURE OF LIQUOR.

A seizure of a large quantity of alcoholic liquor was made to-day by the police. This morning Detective Broberg swore an information against a Chinese storekeeper named Wong Sow for selling liquor without a license. A search-war-rant was immediately afterwards issued. Aimed with this authority, Detective Broberg irent to Wong Sow's premises at the corner of Taranaki and Haining streets, and found twenty-three cases of, Chinese wines and Chinese brandy stored' in two rooms behind the shop. With the assistance of Detective Boddam, Broberg seized 'the whole of the liquor, and had it conveyed by an express to the Lamb ton Quay Police Station. The seizure created a great commotion amongst the Chinese in and about Haining-street, and the incident also excited the interest of numerous Europeans. The accused has been summoned to appear at the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
