ARAWA SAILING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the A'rawa Sailing Club was held last night, Mr. T. J. Thompson (a member of the Committee) took the chair, and there was a large attendance. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, a summary of which has already been pub-, lished, spoke in hearty terms of the way in which Mr. T. M. Collins, the Hon. Secretary, had carried oufc his duties. The Hon. Secretary said that Wellington yachtsmen had received no encouragement from the local bodies able to give" them assistance. The ' Harbour Board could provide accommodation for boats, but it had not don© anything, and yachting was being carried on under great disadvantages. He thought that tllose in teresfced in the sport should wake themselves up and make their power felt. If they showed more energy and combination he believed they would be able to obtain some concessions from the. Harbour Board in tho matter of a yacht anchorage. The sporb was one which ought to be encouraged, and it would be mainly the fault of the yachtsmen if their claims for assistance from the Harbour Board were not rocogniaed in the near future. He was convinced that the smaller boats would be abolished unless the Board set apart a place whdre they could ride out heavy weather in safety. Fourteen new members were elected. The Governor was re-elected Patron. Officers were 'elected as follows — Commodore, Mr. A. H. Turnhull (re-elected) ;. Vice-Commodore, Mr. It.
