FIRE A T BELMONT.
O WOOL-SCOURING WORKS DE- , STROYED. Shortly before 1 o'clock this morning,/' the discovery was made that the wool--' ncouring works of Messrs. F. J. M'Doa«ld and Co., at Belmont, were on fire. The north-westerly gale which was blowing fanned the flames, and in a very short space lof time the buildings and their contents were swept out of existence. The origin of the outbreak; is not/ known. Some men and boys wero a<? . work yesterday preparing for the woolscouring season, and so fay as is known.., there was no sign of fire -when t/jey" knocked off for the day. Tshe budding was insured for £400 and the plattt for £530, both risks being heKl in. tie North Queensland office. The stock* cottsastingi of wool, sheepskins, and wooifaiate, vah.ed at about £5200, was not eocered Ay insurance. . t
