At the second serie3 of wool sales, which opened yesterday, the tone of the, market for all medium and superior classes of merinos and orossbreda. w,as distinctly better, and prices were a farthing higher. Yorkshire buyers operated freely. MELBOURNE, This Day. At the wool sales good merinos -and orossbreds were firm at opening rates, Inferiors^ declined 5 per cent. The Agent-General has oabled as follows to the Agricultural Department under date London, 29th inst. :—": — " Average price for the week for choicest Viotorian butter is 112s per owt ; finest Canadian cheese, 55s per owt. There is good demand for butter. ■ Cheese market is dull. Hemp (spot) : Stocks are email, and tho market speculative. Good, fair Wellington, J>2o ; fair current Manila, .£31."
