Carter, M'Olatehie, Hussell, "White, Jeffrey, Morris (2), Thompson, Kemp, Boss, Master Fur&ons ; ID steerage The barciuentino Silver Cloud, from Newcastle (14th September), with 394 tons coal consigned to Mr W. *J. Gabquoiue, arrived off the Heads tins morning, and was towed into the stream by the Duco this afternoon. Messrs John M'Lean and Son have the barque Pelotus coming from Port Stephen m a few weeks' time with timber for the Glasgow AVlmrf contract. Tho firm's barque Kongsbyrd has been chartered to load at Port Stephen for WesLport. During the pAst few days befcivcoii 70,000 ft and 80,000 ft timber have oomo to haud by steiimers for the wharf contract. Tbo greater portion of timber required for the wluirf is now iv Wellington. Messrs E. W. AHUs ttnd Co, local agents, havo advice that the Cereda, fiom New York, J'ort Chalmers, and Lytteltou, is expocteil to leave the latter poit for Wellington this afternoon. Tljo Cereda, which is a sti anger to Wellington, is a steel screw steamor built in 1891 by Messrs J. Redhead and Sons, of South Shields, for Messrs Cay, Hall and Co, of that port. She is schoonurrijeged and of the following diuieusioiiii :— XieugUi 290 ft lin, breadth of beam 40ft 7in, depth of hold 19ft 6in. Her engines were »lso conducted by tho builders, and are of the triijle-cxputisioii typo, the diameters of tno cylinders being 2*tin, 374iu, and Gliiu, with a length of tfcroko of 39in ; hur nominal horse-power being 234. Her boilers tiro steel, tested up to a pressure of 1601b to tho square inch. She has a .cellular double bottom, divided iuto water bnilust tiuks capable of carrying 246 tons. Her clnss at Lloyd's is fIOO Al. She bus about a thousand tons of general cargo to put out at this port. On discharge she will proceed to Auckland, and will then load timber at Kennedy Bay, near Auckland, for Melbourne. Messrs fitcaithley, Wallace and Co have the scow Monun. loading at Whangarei for Wellington with 130.000 ft timber. Tho linn has orders lor the delivery of SUO,OOOft timber for the extension of the Wellington Jle.it Export Co's works at Ngahaurauga. A shortugo of tonnage is reported for Kaipara loading. Two large simg.s were recenlly removed from alongside tho Grey month AVharf. Had a loaded steamer had the misfortuuo to settle on one of these ugly customers the damage would have been considerable.
