The coal export from Weslporb last week was 7909 tons 7cwfc, of which the Westport Co.il Company shipped 7G77 tons Gdwt and the Westport Co-operative Company 230 tons lewt. DUNEDIN, 2itli September. During the week ended to-day returns were reported from 37 dredges, the total yield being £1854 9s, or an average of over oOoz per dredge. The dredge of the Springvule Company, now in liquidation, was offered b\ r auction to-day, but was not sold. At a meeting of shareholders in the Cornish Point Gold Dredging Company it was decided to wind up the compauy. Mr. Harinan lteeves, broker, stated that his firm Would refuud £100 of the brokerage fees and pay half the cosb of the experts' report.
Some apples known of the variety known as "Stewart's Seedling," grown by Messrs. Bull Bros., of Gisborne, have taken first prize at an exhibition at Ballarat. They are described as the finest fruit of the kind ever seen in Ballarat.
