LONDON, 21st September. BANK OF ENGLAND RETURNS. The Bank of England return issued for the week ending Wednesday, 19tli September, is as under :—: —

•GOVERNMENT SECURITIES. The following are the latest quotations for Government securities: —

•Interest payable in May and November, tlntevest payable in January and July. {Interest payable in April and October. THE MONE7 MARKET. The market rate of discount for best three months' bills is \ higher, at 3J per cent. The Bank of England rate is 4 per cent., as against 3 per cent, on tho 18th July, 3£ per cent, on the 14th June, and 4 per cent, on the iJ3rd May. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUOE. Wheat. — Tho markets aro quiet, but show an upward tendency. Australian, June shipments, 32s 3d: September-October, 32s Gd per quarter. Victorian parcels by sailer 32s per quarter. 'Sugar is firmer — German beet, 88deg, 4£d higher, at lla 9d per cwt ; first mark, granulated, f .o.b. Hamburg, 3d higher, at 13a 9d per cwt. Butter — Tho market is depressed, and holders are weak. Danish, 110s to 112s, against. 120s a fortnight ago and 126s to 130s a year ago. Tho bulk of Australian arrivals have been stored. There have been a few sales of choicest Colonial at 102s 6d, as compaied with 104 a laat week and 106s to 114s a year ago. Probably there will be a little demand beforo mid-October. Bradford Tops— The market is weak. Common sixties, *d lower, at IB£d per lb; super sixties, £d lower, at 19£ d per lb. THIS PRICES OF MNTALS. Copper — Spot, 5s lower, at .£73 5s per ton ; three months', 2a 6d lower, at 17s 6d per ton. • \ Pig iron — Glasgow warrants, No. 1, cash, 8s lower, at b'Ss Gil per ton f.o.b. in Clyde. Lead, 2s Gd lower, at .£l7 12s 6d per ton. • Spelter, 5s higher, at .£l9 '2a Gel per ton. Tin— Spot, 3 ls Gd lower, at .£129 16a per ton; three months', £7 17s Gd lower, at i>l26 15s per ton. Silver — Bar silver is quoted at 2s 4 13-16 d per oz.

The Customs duties collected at the Port of Wellington for the week ending to-day amounted to .£13,41 i 10s. "8eer, .£231 7s 6d. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report as follows! — At Palmerston on Thursday we had a full yarding of cattle and about a dozen pens of sheep. The attendance was good and competition koen, recent prices beins; fully maintained.
