A MILLIONAIRE'S CASTLE.
Since Mr. Andrew Carnegie, the American millionaire and philanthropist, has become a full-fledged Highland laird, as the owner ox the estate and castle of Skibo, a pretty spot of Sutherlandshire, he has advanced considerably in the opinion of Highlanders. The method he has adopted in erecting an addition to tho ancient pile of buildings known as Skibo Castle, however, has astonished the natives of that typicad sleepy hollow. Mr. Carnegie is a great believer in steel, consequently a large proportion of the new building* consist of that material, which has been specially manufactured at his work? at Pitts burg, U.S.A. The Highland people have never in their history seen such an amount of ironwork used in a building, and (adds a local correspondent) they are amazed at the many uses the laird has made of the material. In fact, the "iron castle," as they term the new structure, forms the wonder of the district.
