MR. SEDDON'S FEDERATION SCHEME.
__ 4 , SUPPORT IN FIJI. [press association.] SYDNEY, 18th July. The Fiji correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that since Mr. Seddon's visit to the Islands there has been a desire for annexation either to New Zealaud or to New South Wales. The utterances of tba New Zealand Premier incline the goneral opinion towards New Zealand, for reasons that are clearly set forth in a letter lo the local pret.3 from a member of the lejjal profession. The writer shows that from geographical, physical, ami clitnntio pointH of view Fiji should be attached to New Zealand, which would naturally form the head and centre of a federation embracing all the islands between 105 degrees west longitude and 160 degrees east, under UiitUi control. Freetrade between ±Sr.w Zealand and Fiji would be, says th« writer, aii immense benefit to botli colonies. A large meeting of residents at Levnka affirmed the desirability of steps being taken to bring about federation with New Zealand.
