The local Executive Committee of tho More Men Fund met this morning, Mr. J. P. Maxwell presiding. He reported that the fund stood that morning ot £3102, and that thirty-four horses hud beon contributed by the members of tho Contingent. Major Brandon wroto regretting that ho could not act on any of tho committees, but that he would assist in any military display arranged by tho com. M it tee. Tho Selection Committee reported having made a selection of sixtytwo men, twelve of whom would bear the whole expen.se of thoir equipment and pasittge. There were twelvo others whom it was proposed should be kep*t in camp as emergency men in case of vacancies or there beiog sufficient funds to send extra men. Of tho mon selected thirty-four would provide thirtysix horses, and tho money promised in addition would perhaps amount to £100. The committoo authorised tho Selection Committoo to keep seventy-eight men in camp, including tho sixty-two tinnlly chosen, tho twelve emergency men, two who appeared to havo been inadvertently rejected, and two Into anplicants, who \voro regarded ns exceptionally good men, who would be admitted on tho understanding that they wero simply there ns "second emergency men." Mr. Beauchainp mentioned that tho Premier had informed him thnt the Imperial authorities hud not ro fnr been able to arrange for a. troopship to be sent to the colony, but were still endeavouring to get ono. A cheque for £52 10s fiom the Phn-nix Assuianeu Company was banded in by Mr. Hill. It was resolved that the Governmont should bo uaked l(» accept tho 62 men who had boon definitely accepted ; uko that it be nsked what funds uro available for Wellington from tho moneys subscribed in England, und whut date the transport is likely to oo despatchc£ Mr. R. C. Kirk, who had tho supervision of tho shooting teals, atated that ho believed that they were fnr more severo hero than in any other part of tho colony, tho only rungo used being tho 500 yds, and tho averngo shooting wus better than that mado by the men in both tho preceding Contingents sent from tho colony. A capitul concert was given in the Wadestown Chmch room last night by the members of St. Paul's Lads' Brigade, under the superintendence of tho Rev. Mr. Masters. It wus organised for the purpose of assisting the "More Men" Fund, but unluckily the weather rather spoilt tho attendance. Tho residents of Levin are organising a Patriotic Concert in aid of the More Men Fund.
