ACCIDENT AT THE GOVERNMENT RAILWAY STATION.

A serious accident occurred in the yard attached to the Government Railway Station at Thorndon this morning. A youns man named Walter Watson was engaged in repairing the underparfc of a carriage when it was struck lightly by another carriage in the process of shunting. One of the wheels of the car on which Watson was working passed over the young man's thigh, crushing it in a dreadful manner. The unfortunate man was promptly attended by a medical man, and was afterwards conveyed to the Hospital, where he now lies in a critical state.
