DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GENERALS. THE FORCE NEEDED BY THE DEFENDERS. [I'KESS ASSOCIATION.] CAPETOWN, 9th January. The accounts furnished by newspaper correspondents at the front show that differences occurred between Lieut.-Genenil Lord Methuen and the late Major-General Wauchope, of the Highland Brigade, as to the manner in which the British attack should be made on the Boer entrenchments''at Magersfontein. It is stated that General Cronje requires 30,000 Boers to defend his entrenchments at Magersfontein, north of the Modder River. SOLDIERS' CRITICISMS OF THE GENERALS. (Received January 11, 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, 10th January. Private letters received from the soldiers composing Lieut.-General Lord Methuen's column abound in complaints about the generalship at the battle of Magersfontein.
