The second innings of the South Australians in the match against Victoria closed for 220, making tho aggregate of the two innings 470, Hill scored 126 not out. The home team, which bad soared a grand total of 6)51, thus won by 181 runs. CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. CHRISTCHURCH, 4th January. The cricket match Otago Y. Canterbury was commenced to-day on Lancaster Park. The attendance was very small. Rtvin, overp ig Jit had taken, any fire out of the wicket, and made it easy for the batsmen. A cold south-west wind blew Btrongly all the afternoon. Otago's batting, on the whole, was feeble and spiritless. Considering the wicket, the score should have been considerably larger. The Horokiwi Club has just returned after & very pleasant tour of the Pahiatua district. '•They played matches against Pahiatua, Komni, Wpodville, Norsewood, Dannevirke, and a combined team at Woodville, and won every match. W. Blackey camo out on top in both batting and bowling. The match against Pahiatua resulted in a win by an innings and 34 runs. Pahiatua were dismissed for 29 and 67 (Reeve 11 and Dr. Bode 18). Horokiwi scored 120 (E. Windley 34, G. Harris 19 not out, E. Whitehouse 16, W. Blackey 12, J. Pilkington 11). L. Smith took three wickets ior 16 and W. Blackey six for 9. Woodville was disposed of for 36. E. Windley, six wickets for 16, and E. Whitohouse five for 14, did the bowling. Horokiwi knocked up 103 (R. Abbott 33 not out, G. Harris 18, J. Windley 13.) The match against Dannevirke resulted in another easy ' win. The Horokiwi team first scored 172 for nine wickets (W. Blackey *60, retired, L. Smith, 32, R. Abbott 25), while Daiinevirke - were disposed of for 70 runs, which they compiled in an hour and 10 minutes. L. Smith, five for 12, E. Whitehouse two for 9, and W. Blaekey two for 6, did the bowling. Horokiwi lost six of ite best batsmen for 16 runs, against Norsewood when J. Pilkington (18) and G. Harris (24) made a useful stand, and the innings closed for 76. 'Norsewood were all out for 36, due to the good bowling of W. Blackey, who captured eight wickets for 19 runs. Horokiwi fared better in their second attempt, scoring 123 for three wickets (J. Windley 50 not out/ and L. Smith 43 not out. Norwood lost six wickets for 66 in their second innings when time was called. The combined eleven scored 45 and 69 E. Windley, four for 10, and C. Blackey six for 10, bowled splendidly for Horokiwi, who scored 56 and 50 for five wickots, A. Mapkay 16 not out, E. Windley 14, J, Wincey. 13 doing tho run getting. Th'e match against Konini resulted in a win by 2o runs on the first innings. The winners scored 77 and 97 for five wickets (W. Blackey 18, L. Smith 18, E. Whitehouse 18 not out, W. Blackey 10 not out, J. Pilkington 11). E, Windley secured four wickets for 7 runs, and C. Blackoy two for 3. Konini Bcored 54. The visitors were well treated all through. , E. Windley captained the team.
