'■- The lawn tennis tournament was conclud7 ed torday in fine weather : — c The finest play was shown in the Men's * Champion Doubles, in which the present '■ champions, Cox and Collins, out-classed '" Hooper and Peacock after a hard struggle. £ Miss Nunneley had a fairly easy win in both the Ladies' Singles, and, with > Fisher, played splendidly in the Combined Doubles. . The visitors were entertained at a ball ' to-night, and most of them go on to Wai- '_ pawa to-morrow to attend a tournament s there. The players generally commend the [m way in which the tournament has been^con- * ducted. Ladies' Handicap Doubles.— Misses Harman and Ranisav beat Mrs. ""ayne and Miss ; Powdrell, 4—6, 6—4, 6—3 (final round). '' Ladies' Champion Doubles. — Misses NunI neley and Harman beat Mrs. Payne and a Miss Powdrell, 6—2, 6—o. ,8, 8 Ladies' Champion Singles. — Miss Simp- , a son beat Mrs. Abraham, 6—l, 6—l ; Miss .. M. Simpson, of Wellings ton, President of the Association. Mr. >- H. M. Gore, on behalf of the visitors, - proposed a hearty vote 01, thanks to tha local club for the successful manner in which the tournament had been carried n out. The motion wag carried with en5 thusiasm.
