CABINET RECONSTRUCTION,

THE HON. J. G. WARD REJOINS THE MINISTRY. AN AUCKLAND MEMBER TO BE INCLUDED. MR. CADMAN TO BE CALLED TO THE UPPER HOUSE. A meeting of the Cabinet was held today, after which the Hon. J. G. Ward was sworn in as Colonial Secretary, Minister of Railways, Postmaster-General, Commissioner of Telegraphs, and Ministet of Industries and Commerce. Tho Hon. J. Carroll, who previously held the position of Native Member of the Executive, without portfolio, will take the portfolio of Native Minister. The Premier has given up all his offices save tho^e of Premier, Colonial TreasureCand Minister in Charge of the Public Trust, Government Insurance, Land and Income Tax Departments, and Minister of Labour. He will take cluuge of the Defence Department for the time being, and it is understood that he will ultimately take it, over permanently. Tho Hon. T. Thompson will retain office until the end of the year, but resigns some of his charges to Mr. Ward and the Premier. The portfolios of Mines, Justice, and the Attori^-Gencralship will remain open for the present, but it is understood that two of these will be filled by one of the Auckland members. The appointment will be made after tho New Year. Mr. Cadman, who has resigned from office, will be called to the Legislative Council, and retains a position on the Executive without portfolio.
