In roply to (ho enquiry of the Premier of New South Wales a.s to whether New Zealand would join with tho other colonies in sending their second contingents to South Africa, Mr. Seddon wired that prior to the leceipt of Mr. Lyne's cablegram New Zealand had decided to send a contingent. Althongh we are not acting conjointly with Australia it is gratifying to find that we are together in standing by the Empire in the emergency which has arisen. BRISBANE, This Day. The Legislative Assembly has adopted tho resolution in favour of sending the 160 mounted infantry to South Africa. Great enthusiasm was displayed. The Premier estimates that tho cost of sending the contingent will be about £15,000. ADELAIDE, This Day. . me Government is receiving numerous offers of horses for the contingent. DUNEDIN, This Day. Captain Cradock, late of the 6th Dragoon Guards, has volunteered his services for the command of the second New Zealand contingent. Captain 'Cradock is an experienced cavalry officer.
