PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB. The second of the series of races for the second and third-class boats of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was sailed on Saturday afternoon. There was a northwest wind, and at times it was very puffy, Three entries had boon made for the thirdclass race — viz., Mahaki, Ripple, and May, but owing to the last-named boat's, crew not being ready she did not start. The Mahaki (smin) got the best of tho start, being nearly a. minute ahead of the Ripple (scratch.) The Ripple, however, overtook tho other boat, and finished 4min 35sec ahead of her, thus suffering dofeat by tho Mahaki on time allowance by 26sec. Tho race for the second-class boats resulted in a win for the Kotiri without her time allowance. The starters were Itona (scratch), Kotiri (2min), Mahina (4min), and Syron (20min.) The Rona was the last to cross the starting lino. Kotiri, which got through the water in fine style, finished first, llmin 58sec ahead of tho Rona. The Mahina completed the course llmin behind the Rona. The Siren mot with .an accident when she was off Korokoro, aud did not finish. The Kotiri, having won the first and second events, takes the cup given for the second-class race. Of tho two races for the third-class boats, Ripple has won one and Mahaki one. The Secretary of tho club (Mr. J. B. Speed) acted as starter and judgo on Saturday. ARAWA SAILING CLUB. * A cruising match (handicap) was sailed on Saturday afternoon, the Ngahauranga com se being used for tbo first time. Only threo boats started, and the Waitangi (scratch) sailing in. splendid form, was the only one to complete the course. The' half- raters and 14 footers races were spoilt owing' to the mark-buoy at Kaiwarra sink-^ ing. m^^ mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
