Tha largest publio meeting ever held in j Palmerwbon assembled last night to hear an address from Mr. John Hutcheson, member for Wellington. Fully 1500 were present, nod the meeting throughout, notwithstanding a slight attempt by a small section, including one demonstrative Seddonite of the gentler sex, to create a disturbance, was a most orderly one. Mr.* llutoheson spoke for an hour in condemnation of Seddonism and Seddonian methods, and made a most effective speech. At its conclusion, a vote of thanks was accorded to the speaker, while a vote oE no-confidence in the Government was carried unanimously. [l)Y TKMOGRAVH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. Mr. J. Hutcheson, M.H.R. for Weilington, addressed the electors of Palmerston last evening. The theatre was crowded, and the meeting a very rowdy one. Mr. Hutcheson met -with frequent interruptions, and at times could not be heard. His address was devoted to oriticism of the Government administration, thfe speaker pointing out the great need existing for reforms. He .alleged that Wellington was a seething mass of corruption owing to so many being dependent on the Government. Mr. Pirani also addressed the meeting and replied to some statements made by the Premier concerning himself. Mr. Pirani had. a hostile reception and experienced difficulty in making himself hewd. A voto of thanks to Mr. Hutoheson was carried amid uproar and a motion of no-

confidence in the Government was declared by the Chairman to be carried unanimously on the voices. A large section of the uudiunce refrained from voting. O'Meara, the Government candidate for the Pahiatua seat, addressed a meeting here last night. He received a voto gf thanks and confidence. TIMARU, 23rd November. The Minister of Publio Works addressed the electors to-night. He received a vote of thanks and confidence, and confidence in the Government, by a good show of hands. PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. Captain Dunk, who was Chairman of the Premier's meeting last Friday, has written stating that the motion of confidence in the Government was 2arried by a large majority. DUNEDIN, This Day. Mr. W. H. Warren, the Independent candidate for Caversham, addressed the electors of South Dunedin last evening. He said he was a supporter of the policy of Mr. Ballanco, but the present Government had departed from that policy, especially in the matter of borrowing. A vote of thanks and confidence was declared carried, aftetf. which a portion of the audience gave cheers for Messrs. Morrison and Seddon and groans for Mr. Barf on, who had proposed the vote to Mr. Warren. AUCKLAND, This Day. The Wesleyan Synod having passed <v resolution adverse to Dr. Hosking's candidature for Waikato, Dr. Hosking to-day resigned his connection with tho church to enable him to contest the seat with a free hand.
