Writing under date of 12th October, Messrs arkell & Doutrlas, of New York, inform their New Zeiilandrepresentatives that the Knight Templar, •whith* visited Wellington some few months ago, lias again been put on the berth to load for New Zealand ports, and would be ready to start loading operations at the end of the month. The rates Imd been fixed nt 22s 6d and 10 per cent primage, less 5s where shipper bad been loyal to MA & A Hue. The steamer Manukau hns undergone a thorough overhaul on the Patent Sbp. Several of the plonks which had been damaged by coming in contact with snags in the river have been replaced, and a new after steinpoßt has been supplied. The vessel also has been recaulked and the machinery attended to. Captain Johnson, who was in charge of the schooner Maud Graham when she was wrecked off Port Robinson, took command of the schooner Jessie Niccol yesterday, Cap tarn Clarkson having left for Lyttelton by the Monowai. There are 1179 tons general cargo, including transhipments, coming forward by the Star Co's new steamer Star of Australia,.which arrived in Melbourne from London on Wednesday, and is due in Wellington about 14th December. A message received yesterday afternoon at tbe local office of the New Zealand Shipping Co intimates that the barque Ochtertyre, which called off Otago Heads for orders, proceeded on to Wellington at 3 o'clock yesterday morning. Captain Vickermnn reports sighting a fourmlisted barquentfne between Tory Channel and Port Underwood, heading to the southward, a brigantine off Cloudy Bay, a three-masted fore-nnd-aft schooner off Mana (which is thought to have been the Toroa bound from Greymouth to Gi.-ibome), and a ketch and a schooner off Cl/judy Bay coming to the northward. ' On her trip up from Wellington the Kahu called in at Akitio, and Captain M'Allister reports that the ship Pleiades is Jyin»f on the beach in exactly the same position qb at first. At low tide there is only nbout one foot of water round her. She Las about nine feet of water in the hold, leading one to suppose that a hole has been knocked iv her bottom. The Kahu landed Captain Villers, of Lytlelton, who hns been sentupt<i report by the insurance underwriters. The Kahu, which left Cnstlepoint yesterday afternoon, put back last nifflit, and sailed for Turnagoin and coast tiiis morning. The Corinna, soiling from Dunedin on the 26th, will henceforth relievo the Taapo in tho hitter's running. The Taupo ia to ruplaco tbo Jauot Nicoll in bor present trade. It ia intended to utilise the Janab Nicoll for tramp eorvico.
