Colts v. Representatives. The experiment of playing 18 colts against a representative team was tried on the Basiu Reserve to-daj'. Richardson, skipper of the colts, winning the toss, elected to take advantage of a beautiful wicket, and so far his team has made an excellent stand against their opponents, whp are minus the services o£ players like Ashbolt, Waters, Williams, Stepheuson, and Holdswortb. "Williams (Phoenix) played a fine innings until disposed of with a full pitcher on tho middle stump from Upham. At 3.30 the score was as follows : —
The Wellington College Old Boys' senior and junior teams are trying couclusions with similar combinations of the school on the lattcr's ground. The wicket is perfect from a bal&man's point of view, and there is a good sprinkling of the friends of the players to watch the games. In the senior match, the School team had compiled 170 for the loss of eight wickets, when play was inteinipted by luncheon. Firth played a fine innings for 59, his driving being crisp, clean, and effective. Inglis (26) and Thomas, (11, nob out) gave him able assistance. The junior school team was disposed of for 74, Abbott (15), and Parkinson (11) being the highest scorers. The Old Boys, at luncheon hour, weie credited with 104 for four wickets— Girdlestone (33) and Otterson (30), each not out, and Dickson (10).
