MANUKAU HARBOUR. A DEMAND FOR DREDGING.
[BY TELEGRAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATION,] Auckland, Bth August. The Onehunga Borough Council has passed a resolution strougly urging the Government to dredge the bunk opposite tho wbnrf, to enable the Takapuna and ltotoiti to leave at low water, and so expedite tho delivery of the Kan Francisco mail in the Sou ih. The Mayor said be believed tbnt the Union Steam Ship Company, if the harbour wore made navigable at all states of tbe title, would take advantage of the shorter distance between Onehunga and Sydney than between the latter port and Auckland. The Government ought not only to dredgo tho Mnnukaii Harbour, but also to keep a dredge stationed at Onebunga.
