IMPORTANT DESPATCHES WAITING IN AUCKLAND.
Auckland, 17th April. Soon after the mail steamer Moana left for Samoa and San Franoisco important despatches were received from Wellington to be forwarded to Samoa. The Post Office authorities communicated with Mount Victoria and Tiritiri, and on each flag station signals were hoisted requesting the steamer to return. Apparently, however, neither signal was observed from the Moana. As the . Tutanekai has arrived she will probably go to Samoa with the despatches. A large quantity of rifle and Maxim ammunition iv cases was landed by the Elingaraito from Wellington and conveyed across to the defences at the North Shore, presumably to augment the local 6upply at the forts in case any should be required for Samoa. A wreath was sent by tbe Moana to Samoa by the members of the Auckland Club to place on the grave of Lieut. Freeman, Jate of H.M.S. Tauranga. Corporal Foxworthy and Seaman Hunt, of the Royalist, are making a good recovery from their wounds at the hospital.
