0 * . Mr. Fanning has resigned his commission as a Lieutenant in the Petone Navals. The acceptance of the resignation of Lieuteuant Ernest Bucholz from the Wellington City Rifles is gazetted.
About 40 cases of the peaches brought from Sydney by the Tarawera were condemned this morning by the Government Biologist, :is the fruit was found to have been attacked by the Queensland fly. This afternoon the Stipendiary Magistrate is hearing v case in which Haroourfc & Co. seek to recover £83 15s :is commission from Porter Bros, on the sale of the latter's farm at Pahiatua to Mr. J. Duthie, M.H.R., for £3180. Mr. Ollivier is for plaintiff, and Mr. Myers lor defendant. The windows of The New Houso will be lighted up to-night, when Messrs. James Smith & Sons will display blouse materials. laoes, skirts, obeap capes, &o.
DEATH. Brown.— On Fridiiv, 10th February, at 2 a.m., ntf the Wellington Hospital, of paralysis, Mrs. J. B. Brown, formerly of Wangnratta, Victovin, and dearly-beloved mother of Mrs. Geo. Watson, of this city ; aged 57 years.
