Auckland, Bth February. Captain di Giovello, of the Italian warship Etna, and some of his officers purpose visiting Roloma, and are to be taken to the kauri forest at Waitakerei. Councillor Treuwith and Mrs. Trenwith celebrated their golden wedding to-day. Their employe's made them a handsome presentation. At the Police Court to-day, Joseph Albert Morris, who described himself as an insurance agent, was charged with obtaining £1 from James Carson by false pretences. Morris bad represented he was authorised by the Sun Fire Insurance Company to effect an insurance risk on the company's behalf. Mr. Hutchison, S.M., fined accused £10 and costs, in default two months' hard labour. Napiee, This Day. The Daily Telegraph's special correspondent at Wairoa wires that a room in the North Clyde Hotel has been entered and a case of jewellery valued at £85 stolen. Port Chalmers, This Day. The warship Mildura arrived from Wellington at 7.45 o'clock this morning.
