OLD AGE PENSIONS.

[BI TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Russell, 7th February. Mr. Clendon, S.M., has been occupied at the Courthouse hearing applications for old age pensions. Only 20 applied. Of these three were granted full pensions, 14 smaller amounts, and three were refused. Quite a number of intending applicants were unable to reach here yesterday, owing to bad weather. Probably 20 more will apply on the next day appointed for hearing claims. Stbatford, 7th February. The Stipendiary Magistrate disposed of 29 applications for old age pensions to-day. Eighteen were granted in full. Several were adjourned for further information, or were refused because the applicants did not reach the age, or were unable to give sufficient proof of age.
