ENTHUSIASM ON THE YANKEE SIDE.
THE ISLANDS HAVE UP-TO-DATE WEAPONS. [press association.] (Received February 7, 9.35 a.m.) • Hongkong, 6th February. The American troops under Major-General Otis displayed great enthusiasm and fearlessness. The vessels of the American squadron did splendid execution on the enemy's flanks. Many of the insurgents were armed with Mauser rifles. They also brought into action a few field-pieces and quick-firing guns.
