TO-MORROW'S REGATTA.
Only fine weather is required to ensure the success of the rowing regatta to-mor-row afternoon. The steamer Manaroa will follow the races, with the umpire and the starter and a limited number of the public on board. There are to be eight events. The Canterbury Club's crews arrived this morning, and will compete in the Senior Fours, Senior Pairs, Maiden Fours, and Senior Double Sculls. The Senior Fours race promises to produce an exciting finish. The Canterbury four will be opposed in that event by the Star, Picton, and Wellington crews. The Wellington and Picton crews, have already met twice this year. At Picton Wellington beat the Picton, but at the Championship Regatta in Auckland the Picton crew turned the tables. To-morrow's race will decide the rubber. If the wind is northerly a red flag will be hoisted over the Post Office tower at noon, and the regatta will take place at Petone, but should there be a southerly wind a flag will be flown over each boatshed, and the races will start from the neighbourhood of Point Jerningham and finish between the Star Club's shed and the wharf.
