Dunedin, This Day. Play was resumed at noon in the cricket match New Zealand v. Otago — the earhc stages of which are reported on page 2 of this issue. The weather is showery and the wicket very soft. Cobcroft and Mills, of the New Zealand team, faced the bowling of Downes and Hope. At 71 Cobcroft, after contributing 15, was bowled by Downes. Sim came in and lasted three or four overs, when he fell a victim to the Grange bowler without scoring. Fisher came next, and afte getting a single was dismissed l.b.w. to Hope — seven for 80. Bpxshall, after making 3, gave an easy chance to Butler at short leg — eight for 91. Later. The New Zealand team was disposed of for 111— I. Mills 30, Ashbolt 10 ; Downes, Frankish, and Upham (not out) 0. T Downes took 10 wickets for 20 runs. Owing to the Waikare not reaching Hobart till Saturday, the Manager of the New Zealand team has cabled asking that the match against South Tasmania be not begun till Monday next. In a Junior Association Cup heat Wesleys made 60 and 66 against New Zealand Times team, which in its first innings only responded with 12. For Wesley — Hansen 24, Clark 10 aud 12 not out, Sussex 9, and Ralph 9 batted best, while bowling honours were shared by Waller five for 3 and Clayton four for 9. The match will be continued next Saturday. The St. Paul's Company of the Church Lads' Brigade met and defeated the choir of St. Augustine's, Petone, on tho ground of the latter on Saturday. For the winners, who were victorious by two wickets, H. Colpus, 27, and Thomson, 34, were the highest scorers. Stringer, 13, and Arcus, 14, headed the list for the losers. Both teams were subsequently entertained at tea by the Rev. J. D. Russell and Mrs. Russell.
