Wind— Strong from west to south-west and south at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and New Plymouth. Gale from the same quarter at all other places, probably with rain Baromkter— Rise everywhere Sua — Heavy on western coast southward of New Plymouth, aud on east coast south of East Cape Tjnns— Moderate on west coast south of Cape Farewell, good from thence northward ; high on east coast south of East Cape; moderate elsewhere ' Colder weather to be expected in all parts of tho country SYNOPSIS OP LAST 24 HOURS. Northward of Napier aud New Plymouth the barometer has continued to rise slowly, but everywhere else it fell steadily until about midnight, and has risen slowly since that time; moderate to strong westerly winds have been prevalent.
