It is generally considered that the reason for the delay in the ratification of the Treaty of Peace is to be found in the complicated state of American party politics. It has, however, been arranged that the Senate shall take a vote on the Treaty on the 6th February. AWFUL EXTENT OF THE SPANISH LOSSES. Madhid, 26th January. Hi has been officially announced that 80,000 Spanish soldiers died during the recent war in Cuba, the bulk succumbing to diseases of various kinds.
