A horrible outrage and triple murder has been committed near Galton, in the Ipswich district, 23 miles west of this city. Michael Murphy, aged 29, and hie sisters Norab, 27 years, and Ellen, 18 years, attended a local race meeting and left on their return home in a dogcart at 10 o'clock at night. Next morning the horse was found shot dead in the bush a short distance from the township. The three Murphys lay beside the cart with their skulls brutally smashed, apparently with a heavy stick. The hands of both the girls were tied behind their backs, aud Norah had a strap fastened tightly round her neck. Both had been cruelly outraged prior to their death. There is no clue to the identity of the perpetrators of the crime.
