General Martinez Campos (who was Spain's Captain-General in Cuba in 1895) and other marshals of the Spanish Army are strongly opposed to General Weyler — who succeeded Campos in the command in Cuba, and whose rule there was distinguished for its brutality— being admitted to the Cabinet.
