The Chess Championship Tournament commenced yesterday and was continued to-day. Much disappointment is felt at the small entry. Anderson (Christchurch) and King and Banks (Oamaru). who had entered, have not put in an appearance. To-day, Cleland defeated Lyders, Edwards defeated Mouat, Barnes (Wellington) had a -ye.
